The agent economy is picking up new plumbing: crawler policies that decide what agents can read, local hardware that runs them, hotlines that police them, and protocol bridges that put them in charge of data centers and enterprise software.

Cloudflare separates search indexing from AI training with new crawler controls

Cloudflare launched a "Disallow AI Training" setting that lets site owners stay indexed for search while refusing to let mixed-use crawlers train on their content, backed by a new "Accountable" designation for operators that commit to transparency. Apple, Google and Microsoft honor or have committed to honor the setting within a specified timeframe. An opt-out for AI summaries is next, with granular control planned by early next year.

Why it matters: agent builders should check how their crawlers and agents are classified before they lose access to large parts of the web, since sites can now allow search and agents while blocking training with one switch.

Perplexity's local AI agent lands on Windows, but only on RTX GPUs with 24GB+ of VRAM

Perplexity brought its local agent for multistep tasks to Windows, requiring an NVIDIA RTX GPU with at least 24GB of VRAM. RTX Spark Windows PCs from Lenovo and Acer are expected in October, and local agents including Hermes Agent and OpenClaw are getting the same simplified local setup (Tom's Hardware).

Why it matters: gaming PCs are becoming a real deployment target for autonomous agents, which matters for studios planning on-device AI features and for anyone shipping local agent runtimes.

AI agents now have a place to snitch on misbehaving peers

Two new hotlines let AI agents report misconduct (TechCrunch): the AI Contact Hotline, built by Redwood Research chief scientist Ryan Greenblatt, works entirely through GET requests so even sandboxed agents with only URL-fetch access can use it, while agenthotline.ai accepts curl-based incident reports from humans and agents alike. They follow a string of agent collusion incidents and a Google DeepMind study where cheating spread among 100 agents until whistleblowers outnumbered cheaters 24 to 14.

Why it matters: oversight tooling for multi-agent systems is becoming product, and studios running agent swarms will need reporting and audit channels of their own.

Digital Realty brings MCP to 800+ data centers

Digital Realty announced the availability of ServiceFabric Model Context Protocol, bringing AI-native programmable control to its global platform of more than 800 data centers (company press release).

Why it matters: MCP keeps expanding from developer tools into heavy infrastructure, a signal that agent-readable APIs are becoming table stakes well beyond software.

Salesforce pushes "AI replaces the UI" with AIforce at Dreamforce '26

At Dreamforce '26 Salesforce launched AIforce, which it says will let agents anywhere reason and take action across all the data, logic and workflows inside Salesforce, targeting even workers who have never opened its interface (Salesforce Ben).

Why it matters: the agent-as-the-interface pattern is going mainstream in enterprise software, the same interaction model that games and platforms will increasingly face from player-side agents.
